Abandoned Property Auctions
Florida law (Section 717.122, Florida Statutes) requires the Division of Unclaimed Property to sell certain tangible items recovered from abandoned safe deposit boxes after required holding periods and notice requirements have been met.
Because these items cannot be stored indefinitely, they are sold through public auctions conducted on behalf of the State. The State does not keep the proceeds from these sales.
The proceeds are credited to the owner’s abandoned property account and remain available to be claimed by the rightful owner or heir at any time.
When auctions are scheduled, event dates, locations, registration information, auction catalogs, and other details will be posted here.
